Interview Transcripts 'Vital' to Nursing Group's Board Selection Process

Each year, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses welcomes a new board of directors to oversee its operations. Dozens of candidates submit applications for a position on the board of AACN. The applications are then reviewed by current members to determine who will serve for the following year.

For the past six years, the non-profit AACN has used TScribe to provide transcripts of candidate interviews conducted by the association's nominating committee. "These transcripts are vital to the work of the nominating committee," says Melinda Messenger, senior volunteer associate at AACN. "Committee members live all over the country and cannot all be on the interview calls." She adds, "Each member interviews several candidates, and then all the transcripts are sent to everyone for review, allowing everyone to have access to the same information during deliberations."

From a larger pool of applicants, AACN's nominating committee then whittles the candidates down to a smaller group. Interviews of candidates in the smaller group, which are also transcribed, are used to determine who will be selected to serve on the organization's board for the following year.

Transcription of the interviews allows AACN to speed up the selection process, says Messenger. "We have approximately 75 interviews, each lasting about 45 minutes, transcribed each year. We do not have the manpower to transcribe these ourselves, so the service is invaluable."

AACN keeps coming back year after year to use TScribe for its needs. Messenger says TScribe is "extremely helpful, accurate, and timely with their work. We always have very definite deadlines for when we need the materials, and TScribe has never missed a deadline in the time I've worked with them."
